Forging Foundation Scholarships!
Students interested in the forging industry can apply for scholarships through the Forging Foundation’s four scholarship programs.
- NEW! Edward F. Wozniak Memorial Scholarship
- Forging Industry Women’s Scholarships
- Charles W. Finkl Scholarships
- The Al Underys Engineering, Metallurgical & Material Sciences Memorial Scholarship
Deadline for all materials to be received is April 13th, 2024. Recipients will be announced in June.
Don’t forget to pass this information along to your students and interns!

Forge the Future Summer Camps
The Forging Foundation is excited to host not just one, but three summer camps this year! Students will have the opportunity to tour a forging facility, participate in STEAM and team building activities, and learn how to forge. Plus, campers will get to take home their own forging!
SUMMER CAMPS:
- July 8-10, 2024 (Cleveland, OH) – Registration Open
- July 22-24, 2024 (Chicago, IL) – Registration Open
- August 5-6, 2024 (Warren, MI) – Registration Open
There are only 25 seats available for each camp. Register your kids today!
Sponsorships and company participation are needed to help expose the students to the forging companies near them! FIERF Forging Competition
Six schools will be heading to Milwaukee, WI in a few weeks to test their Halligan bar for this year’s FIERF Forging Competition!
Each year, students come together to compete in the Forging Foundation’s Forging Competition. The Forging Competition is a great way for students to have a hands-on opportunity to learn more about forging while competing for prizes!

Women in Forging Lunch & Learn
FIA is hosting a Women in Forging Lunch & Learn on May 13, 2024 to help women in our industry connect, network, build relationships, empower each other, and learn from one another. This Lunch & Learn will take place at the International Women’s Air & Space Museum located in Cleveland, Ohio.
This Lunch & Learn will have two presentations – one on the Women in WWII Aviation, and another by Ann Over, President at AR NexGen, LLC. Attendees will also get to take a guided tour of the museum during the event.
Forging Foundation’s Fourth Silent Auction
The Forging Foundation (FIERF) is excited to announce their Fourth Annual Silent Auction fundraiser to take place at the FIA Annual Meeting of Members on April 20th.
We ask that you consider donating an item or service for the auction at this year's event. Generous donations of services, gift cards, products and once-in-a-lifetime experiences will help our event succeed to raise funds that support industry-relevant research to advance the science of forging and engage students through curriculum, experiential learning, and scholarships to encourage them to pursue careers in the forging supply chain.

ABANA’s 50th Anniversary & Conference
Join FIERF in Johnstown, PA for ABANA’s 50th Anniversary & Conference June 6-9, 2024. The Forging Foundation will have a table at the event providing a children’s activity for attendees to take part in and learn more about forging!
In addition to our table, there will be other forging demonstrations, classes, kids activities, a forging competition, vendors, food, and fun!

- Get the Latest Research & Technology - The Foundation partners with universities and research partners to fund technology development, engage students in experiential learning and report results through Technical Reports and Conferences.
- Improve Your Workforce Development Efforts - The Foundation established the Magnet School Program to increase awareness and knowledge of the forging industry among university engineering students. The organization awards scholarships each year to students interested in careers in the forging supply chain. The foundation has also implemented K-12 programming such as summer camps and children's books to help reach even further into the future workforce.
- Enhance Employee Education & Training - FIA & FIERF offer eLearning (Forging University) for free to FIA Members as well as students and professors/educators. FIA member employees are encouraged to take full advantage of these training courses.
- Recruit New Employees - Post and share job & internship opportunities in the Forging Career Center.
- Support Your Female Workers - Women in Forging is a networking committee created to help women in the forging industry connect, network, build relationships, mentor young women and empower females in the forging industry to continue to grow in leadership roles.
